Man critically injured in Manchester Airport crash

A 65-year-old man is in a critical condition after being involved in a collision near Manchester Airport.

The man, from Cheadle Hulme, was in the back of a Fiat Punto which collided with a Vauxhall Vivaro van on Styal Road near the Ringway. He suffered serious injuries in the crash which happened at about 0720 GMT and was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital.

Two women from Cheadle Hulme, aged 48 and 51, who were the driver and front passenger, suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the van was unhurt.
