Man held after crashing car into Nuneaton rugby club

by Conrad Murray last modified 20-12-2007 05:56

A 25-year-old man has been arrested following reports a car was driven through iron gates at a rugby club and on to its pitch.

Police said the man, from Earl Shilton, Leics, was arrested as he climbed out of a stream in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Officers said the incident on Tuesday night involved a vehicle, which had previously failed to stop for them, going into Nuneaton Rugby Club.

The arrested man was taken to hospital with hypothermia and minor injuries.

Officers said he was now in custody and they would be questioning him later on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified, failing to stop and failing to provide a breath test.
