by Conrad Murray last modified 20-12-2007 06:01

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a tipper truck on Teesside.

The 57-year-old woman became trapped under the eight-wheel vehicle as it pulled onto a Middlesbrough construction site. She suffered fatal head injuries in the crash, which happened close to the junction with Saltersgill Avenue and Pinewood Avenue.

Cleveland Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, on Wednesday lunchtime, to come forward.
