Menezes inquiry: prosecutors should consider charges against three police officers
An inquiry into the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes has said prosecutors should consider charging three police officers.
The Crown Prosecution Service has been asked to look at bringing manslaughter charges against a senior Scotland Yard officer and two firearms officers.
The three who could face charges includes Metropolitan Police Commander Cressida Dick, who was the senior designated officer in charge of the firearms operation the day Mr Menezes was shot. The other two are the officers who shot Mr Menezes on 22 July, one day after the failed bomb attacks in London.
The Brazilian was mistakenly shot by police at Stockwell station last July.
Prosecutors have been considering an Independent Police Complaints Commission report since January. But actual charges are still considered unlikely by lawyers.
The Crown Prosecution Service will announce its decision on Monday.
