Jet skier killed near Abersoch

by Murdo Maguire last modified 25-09-2006 04:57

A man has died after an incident involving three water bikes off the Llyn Peninsula in Gwynedd.

The Abersoch inshore lifeboat pulled the unconscious rider from the sea after he came off his craft at Porth Ceiriad near Abersoch. Initial reports say the man was thrown from his water bike after hitting a wave just after 1600 BST on Saturday. The man was later airlifted to hospital in Bangor by an RAF rescue helicopter from Valley on Anglesey but later died.

Coastguards said three water bikers had been involved and a second had been treated for shock.

An investigation is under way.
