Man seriously hurt in Newquay "tombstone" plunge

A man is in hospital with serious head and leg injuries after jumping off a sea wall into water in Cornwall.

The 28-year-old man was rescued after plunging from the sea wall in Newquay in a craze known as tombstoning. He suffered a fractured skull and a broken leg after striking rocks, and was left unconscious after the fall on Sunday afternoon.

Cornwall Air Ambulance were called to the scene and he was airlifted to Treliske Hospital for treatment.
