Council worker run over by recycling lorry in East Dunbartonshire

A council employee has died after an accident involving a lorry collecting recycling material.

The 35-year-old man was carrying out a collection in the village of Torrance, East Dunbartonshire, when the accident happened at about 0845GMT. He suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later.

An inquiry has been launched into the incident, officials said.
