Cyclist seriously hurt in Manchester crash

A 59-year-old cyclist suffered serious head injuries when he was involved in a collision with a car, police said.

The man is described as being in a "serious but stable" condition in Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, following the incident on Saturday.

The accident involving a silver Toyota Starlet car happened at the junction of Thorley Lane and Mainwood Road in Timperley, Greater Manchester.

The 86-year-old driver of the car was not injured.
