Cyclist suffers facial injuries in Midlothian hit-and-run

by Conrad Murray last modified 31-08-2006 05:19

A cyclist suffered facial injuries including a broken cheekbone following a hit and run incident in Midlothian.

The 26-year-old was cycling along the A701 near to Straiton Retail Park in Loanhead at about 1515 BST on Tuesday 22 August. He was heading to Edinburgh and was near the city bypass when he was struck by another vehicle travelling in the same direction. He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Police are trying to trace a black jeep type vehicle that may have been involved in the incident. A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "The area around Straiton Retail Park is always busy with traffic and we would appeal to anyone who may have been in that area last Tuesday afternoon and remembers the incident to contact police."
