Recycling worker killed in road accident named

A council employee who died following an accident involving a recycling lorry has been named by police.

Stephen Welsh, from the Duntocher area, was carrying out a collection in Torrance, East Dunbartonshire, when the accident happened on Wednesday. The 35-year-old suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but died there a short time later.

An official inquiry has been launched into the incident.
