Teesside hit-and-run driver injures girls

by Conrad Murray last modified 25-02-2007 07:35

Police on Teesside are hunting the hit-and-run driver of a stolen car, who careered into two 10-year-old girls.

Danielle Richardson suffered a broken leg after being thrown over the bonnet of the Citroen Picasso on Friday. Her friend, Megan Wardle was treated for cuts and bruises. Both were taken to Middlesbrough James Cook Hospital.

The girls were walking near the Palladium in Eastbourne Road in the town, when they were hit by the car, which failed to stop. Cleveland Police said the car had been taken 30 minutes before the incident from another part of the town.

The vehicle was recovered after the incident and is undergoing forensic examinations.
