Triathlete Kearney dies in cycle training road crash

Irish triathlete Caroline Kearney was killed in a collision with a car while on a training cycle ride in Montpellier, France on Thursday.

The driver was taken into custody after the crash, according to Jean-Gregoire Reschke, president of the Montpellier triathlon club where she trained. The exact circumstances of the accident are not yet known.

The 22-year-old Kearney was on a training ride with club mates ahead of a competition at Beauvais this weekend.
