Tributes paid to County Tyrone accident victims
Tributes have been paid to two friends who worked as trainee chefs together and who died in a road crash in County Tyrone.
The two men were William Alexander North, 22, from Cookstown and William Crawford, 27, from Ballymena. The accident, which involved a car and a lorry, occurred on the Dungannon Road in Cookstown shortly after 1230 GMT on Monday. The men were travelling to East Tyrone College when the accident happened.
They worked in the kitchen together at the Royal Hotel in Cookstown. One of them had worked there from the age of 14. They also trained together at the college.
Principal Jimmy Mullan said staff and students' thoughts were with their families: "They were regarded as being fun characters," he said. "They travelled together, appeared at college together and worked together. They were leaders in the class as well and they were highly regarded."
Staff at the hotel said their thoughts were also with the two men's families.
A police investigation into the cause of the crash is under way.
