West Sussex man dies following M27 collision
A man has died after suffering head injuries in a crash in Hampshire.
Frank Wimble, 65, from Steyning, West Sussex, was driving a Red Peugeot 306 on the inside lane of the M27 on Sunday when he swerved across three lanes. The man lost control, hit the central reservation and rebounded into the path of a Renault Megane van before hitting a Fiat Punto, police said. The man, who was the sole occupant of the Peugeot, then hit a concrete parapet near a service station.
Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
The 69-year-old man, from Havant, who was driving the Renault Megane was treated for minor injuries at Southampton General Hospital. The driver of the Fiat Punto, a 51-year-old woman from Hedge End, and her 25-year-old female passenger from Bath, were not thought to have been injured.
The motorway was closed for five hours following the crash.
