Widow sues after James Bond movie set painter succumbs to mesothelioma

The wife of a British man who painted sets for James Bond movies in the 1960s and 1970s is suing Rank Film Productions for damages.

Ronald Sharp died of lung cancer earlier this year aged 59, and his wife is convinced he contracted the disease because he was exposed to now-banned insulator asbestos over a long period of time at London's Pinewood Studios.

Widow Barbara Sharp is seeking £150,000 in damages from Rank Film Productions after her husband worked as a scenic painter for the Bond films On Her Majesty's Secret Service, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever.

Mrs Sharp said, "My husband lost 18 years of his life because of Rank's negligence in exposing him to asbestos."
