Aberdeen teenager crushed to death in industrial accident is named
A teenager crushed to death in an industrial accident in Aberdeen has been named.
Apprentice plumber Michael Scott, 18, from Oldmeldrum died after the accident at APH in York Place. Grampian Police is holding a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
His parents said in a statement: "We are all absolutely devastated by the loss of our wonderful son and brother Michael in this tragic unexpected way."
The young employee was involved in a crushing incident involving wooden materials on Wednesday lunchtime. A first-aider from a neighbouring company tried to help until the arrival of the ambulance crew.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Michael's mother and father, Fiona and Peter Scott, said in a statement: "Michael was a very special person. He loved people and they loved him. He was everything a parent could want from a son. His younger sister, Laura, 15, is beside herself with grief. Michael loved life and was always up for a laugh, never happier than when he was playing jokes on people. It was a mark of the kind of young man Michael was that he had so many friends. We never realised until this terrible thing happened that he meant so much to so many people."
