by Murdo Maguire last modified 05-01-2007 09:36

A man has died in an accident at the Corus steel plant in Wombourne.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to the plant in Bridgnorth Road after a piece of steel fell on to a worker. A spokesman said the man, a subcontract worker believed to be in his 20s, was trapped under the steel plate and was confirmed dead at the scene.

A number of workers at the plant were treated for shock after the accident, which happened on Thursday afternoon.
