Probe into mystery Heathrow footbridge death
An investigation is under way into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at Heathrow Airport.
Police were called on Saturday morning to a man found critically injured underneath the footbridge at the Central Terminal Area of the airport. The man, who is black and in his 40s, is believed to be South African. Police believe they know his identity but are waiting for formal identification. Emergency treatment was carried out by paramedics but the man died later.
Thorough investigations into the circumstances of the death are being carried out by Heathrow CID Police are also studying CCTV footage of the area and liaising with the South African authorities via the embassy. The man was treated by paramedics from both the London Ambulance Service and the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.
