Wiltshire waste baler death due to 'misadventure'

by Murdo Maguire last modified 07-04-2007 07:47

An inquest into the death of a man who fell into a cardboard-baling machine at a Wiltshire waste disposal plant has returned a verdict of misadventure.

Paul McGuire, 33, died of multiple severe injuries in the accident, which happened on 16 August, 2005.

Sita, owners of the plant off the A419 at Cricklade, said it had improved safety at the site since his death. The Health and Safety Executive said it was considering whether to prosecute the company.

After the hearing, Mr McGuire's widow Sophie said: "Paul played a big part in so many people's lives, not just mine, and it has left a huge gap which we'll never be able to fill."
