Between 31st October and 2nd November 2006 a dose of the highly radioactive substance Polonium 210 was administered to Russian writer and dissident Alexander Litvinenko in London which subsequently resulted in his slow demise and death on 23rd November. A number of other members of the public - 596 in total - are known to have received some exposure to the substance, although 480 of these were below reportable dose status. The London Polonium victim support group is a place for victims to interact, to discuss matters relating to their health and to pursue possible legal action.
